MP277 repair and refurbishment
The Siemens MP277 Touch is the single most commonly repaired HMI panel globally. Discontinued around 2012, the MP277 remains in active service across thousands of UK installations because replacing it with a current-generation panel requires hardware, software licences, reprogramming, and downtime costing £5,000 to £15,000 or more. We carry out component-level repair on both the 8-inch and 10-inch variants, with CCFL-to-LED backlight conversion and touchscreen digitizer replacement as the highest-volume repairs. The MP277 10-inch Touch shares a common touchscreen part with the TP270 and TP277, making parts supply efficient.
Common MP277 faults we fix
-
CCFL backlight failure causing gradual dimming, a pink or reddish hue, flickering, and eventual total screen blackout — the dominant failure mode on MP277 panels
-
CCFL inverter board failure producing identical symptoms to lamp failure — both components are typically replaced together during a backlight conversion
-
Resistive touchscreen digitizer degradation causing dead spots, phantom touches, and calibration drift after years of industrial use
-
Electrolytic capacitor failure in the power supply section causing intermittent power-on failures or complete inability to start

MP277 repair FAQs
Can you convert my MP277 from CCFL to LED backlight?
Yes. CCFL-to-LED conversion is our most common MP277 repair. The LED upgrade eliminates the original CCFL failure mode entirely and significantly extends the usable life of the panel.
My MP277 screen has dead spots — is the touchscreen replaceable?
Yes. The MP277 uses a resistive touchscreen digitizer that is a separate component from the LCD. We source aftermarket digitizers and carry out the replacement with full calibration and testing before return.
Is it worth repairing an MP277 or should I migrate to a new panel?
For most installations, repair is significantly more cost-effective. A full platform migration typically costs £5,000 to £15,000 or more when you account for new hardware, software licences, reprogramming, and production downtime. Our MP277 repairs return the original unit to service at a fraction of that cost.
