HIRSCHMANN INDUSTRIAL SWITCH REPAIR & REFURBISHMENT

Hirschmann RSP and RSP-Smart switch repair and refurbishment.

Board-level repair for Hirschmann RSP managed switches with PRP and HSR zero-switchover redundancy. No fix no fee.

Overview

RSP / RSP-Smart repair and refurbishment

The Hirschmann RSP and RSP-Smart are managed industrial Ethernet switches supporting PRP and HSR zero-switchover redundancy protocols. These switches are deployed in critical UK infrastructure applications — substations, power generation, and process plant — where any network interruption is unacceptable. The zero-switchover capability makes these units significantly more expensive than standard managed switches, and their deployment in critical applications means downtime cost is extremely high for end users.

Expertise

Common RSP / RSP-Smart faults we fix

  • Power supply faults causing loss of one or both redundant power inputs — critical on units deployed in high-availability applications

  • PRP or HSR redundancy protocol hardware failure preventing the switch from maintaining zero-switchover capability

  • Individual port failures from ESD or PHY chip faults

  • IEEE 1588v2 precision time protocol hardware failure affecting time synchronisation across the network

Process

How it works

  1. 1

    Send details

Share the switch model, fault symptoms, and any alarm LEDs or diagnostic output.

  2. 2

    Diagnostics

Bench diagnostics isolate the fault to board, component, or subsystem.

  3. 3

    Repair, Refurbish & Test

Component-level repair with port validation and management system testing before return.

  4. 4

    Return to service

Confirmed test results and return logistics for your switch.

FAQ

RSP / RSP-Smart repair FAQs

Can you repair the PRP/HSR redundancy hardware on an RSP switch?

We diagnose PRP and HSR faults at board level. Where the fault is a component-level issue rather than a fundamental ASIC failure, repair is viable. We assess each unit and confirm viability before proceeding.

What is the difference between the RSP and the RSP-Smart?

The RSP-Smart is an economical variant of the RSP with the same PRP/HSR zero-switchover capability. The hardware architecture is closely related and we service both.
