Component-level repair and refurbishment for the Danfoss VLT 2800. Bench diagnostics, engineer-led, tested before return.
VLT 2800 repair and refurbishment
The Danfoss VLT 2800 is a compact general-purpose drive that was widely installed across UK manufacturing during the late 1990s and 2000s. Many units are still in active service today, and age-related component wear — particularly in the DC bus — is the primary driver of failure.
Common VLT 2800 faults we fix
-
DC bus electrolytic capacitor degradation — the most prevalent age-related failure on VLT 2800 drives after extended service
-
IGBT inverter failure causing overcurrent faults, often triggered by supply transients or accumulated thermal stress
-
Control board faults causing parameter loss, display issues, or loss of serial communication
-
LCP (local control panel) keypad failure preventing parameter access on drives still in active use

VLT 2800 repair FAQs
My VLT 2800 is over 15 years old — is a full refurbishment worthwhile?
Yes, in many cases. If the machinery running on the drive is still productive, a full refurbishment (including capacitor replacement and power stage inspection) is considerably cheaper than a panel redesign or motor replacement.
Can you repair a VLT 2800 with a capacitor leak or visible electrolyte residue?
Yes. Electrolyte leakage from the DC bus capacitors is a clear sign of age-related degradation. We remove all affected components, clean the PCB, and replace with modern equivalents.
Is the VLT 2800 still repairable given that it is out of production?
Yes. Compatible components are available for most VLT 2800 variants. We check parts availability before confirming the repair and will advise clearly if a specific fault cannot be addressed.
