Danfoss VLT FC280 repair and refurbishment.
Component-level repair for the Danfoss VLT FC280. Bench diagnostics, engineer-led, safety functions checked before return.
VLT FC280 repair and refurbishment
The VLT FC280 is a compact drive with integrated safety functions (STO, SS1) and a wide power range up to 22 kW. It is used in machinery safety applications where a dedicated safety relay would otherwise be required. Component-level repair avoids the need to redesign the safety circuit around a new drive.
Common VLT FC280 faults we fix
-
Power card failure causing overcurrent or output phase loss faults, particularly following supply transient events
-
Internal circuit faults triggering a stop without an external signal — a known internal failure mode on older FC280 units
-
DC bus electrolytic capacitor failure causing undervoltage or braking instability
-
Control card communication faults affecting the drive's built-in RS485 or fieldbus interface

VLT FC280 repair FAQs
My FC280 has an internal fault with no external wiring issue — is this repairable?
Yes. Internal circuit failure is a known fault mode on the FC280. We carry out a bench diagnostic to confirm the root cause and repair the circuit where viable.
Do you repair FC280 drives with integrated brake chopper faults?
Yes. Brake chopper faults (causing DC overvoltage alarms) are within our repair scope. We diagnose and replace the chopper circuit where required.
