Danfoss VLT FC302 repair and refurbishment.
Component-level repair for the Danfoss VLT FC302. Bench diagnostics, engineer-led, no fix no fee.
VLT FC302 repair and refurbishment
The VLT FC302 is Danfoss's flagship industrial drive, covering 0.37 kW to 1.4 MW and supporting a wide range of motor control modes. Its modular design — with separable power card and control card — makes component-level repair particularly effective, as the failed section can often be replaced independently.
Common VLT FC302 faults we fix
-
Power card failure — the most common FC302 fault, particularly on the 2-frame (A) and 3-frame (B) sizes where the power card integrates gate drivers and DC bus sensing
-
Cooling fan failure on larger frame sizes causing thermal shutdown — fan assemblies in continuous-duty applications have a finite service life
-
IGBT module replacement required following supply transient damage or sustained overload — particularly on high-inertia load applications
-
Brake resistor connection faults and brake chopper circuit failure causing DC overvoltage alarms on fast-decelerating applications

VLT FC302 repair FAQs
My FC302 shows an alarm 38 (internal fault) — what does this mean?
Alarm 38 on the FC302 typically indicates a power card or internal hardware fault. We carry out a full bench diagnostic to isolate the specific failure before quoting a repair.
Can you replace only the power card on an FC302?
Yes. The FC302's modular design often allows us to replace the failed power card independently, which is more cost-effective than replacing the entire drive.
Do you service FC302 drives used with brake resistors?
Yes. We diagnose and repair the brake chopper circuit on the FC302. If the brake resistor itself has failed, we will advise — that falls outside our drive repair scope.
