COMBIVERT F6 repair and refurbishment
The COMBIVERT F6 is KEB's most recent generation general-purpose drive, replacing the F5 in new designs with an updated control platform and integrated safety functions. Despite being a newer product, the same failure modes apply to the power stage — and with F6 drives increasingly appearing on UK machinery, repair demand is growing.
Common COMBIVERT F6 faults we fix
-
Power module failure in the IGBT inverter stage — the same primary failure mechanism as the F5, presenting as overcurrent or short-circuit fault codes
-
Control card and fieldbus option faults affecting CANopen, PROFIBUS, or EtherNet/IP interfaces used in automated machine control systems
-
Internal control faults causing spurious stops — a known failure mode on drives in high-cycle applications
-
Internal power supply faults causing the drive to fail to initialise or exhibit intermittent control resets

COMBIVERT F6 repair FAQs
My COMBIVERT F6 has an internal fault with no external signal — is this a drive fault?
Yes. Internal circuit failure is a known fault mode on newer-generation drives including the F6. We carry out a bench diagnostic to confirm the root cause before advising on repair.
Can you repair a COMBIVERT F6 with a CANopen fieldbus fault?
Yes. Fieldbus faults are within our repair scope. We test the control card and option board to identify the specific failure and source a compatible replacement where required.
Is the COMBIVERT F6 different enough from the F5 to require different repair expertise?
The F6 has an updated control architecture and integrated safety functions compared to the F5. We are familiar with both platforms and factor these differences into our diagnostic approach.
