Obsolete Jacquard Weaving Machine PCB Solution

The Challenge:

    A client's critical Jacquard weaving machine went down due to a faulty main PCB. The machine's manufacturer declared the board obsolete and offered no repair options. Their only recommendation was a complete and costly upgrade of the entire electronics system, with an estimated downtime of over a month. The client faced significant production loss and a high capital expense.

Our Solution:

    Instead of accepting the board was "unrepairable," we took on the challenge. Through detailed diagnostics, we confirmed the core fault lay within the obsolete logic board. Bypassing the expensive upgrade path, we engineered a practical and robust alternative. We sourced a reliable industrial PC and developed a custom interface to integrate it with the Jacquard's existing systems. This required reverse-engineering certain functions and ensuring seamless communication between the new controller and the machine's hardware.

​The Results:

  • Time: The Jacquard weaving machine was fully functional and back in production in less than one week, compared to the manufacturer's one-month estimate for an upgrade.

  • Cost: The client achieved significant cost savings, avoiding a full, high-cost electronics replacement.

  • Outcome: The custom solution proved to be stable and reliable, extending the life of valuable machinery and demonstrating that a creative, component-level approach is often a superior alternative to scrapping equipment
