VFD REPAIR & REFURBISHMENT

Control Techniques drive repair and refurbishment.

Bench diagnostics and component-level repair for Commander and Unidrive series drives. Engineer-led, no fix no fee.

Overview

Control Techniques (Nidec) drives

Control Techniques drives are widely deployed across UK manufacturing — from compact Commander units on conveyors to high-power Unidrive frames in heavy process plant. We carry out component-level refurbishment rather than board swap, which means you get your own drive back, repaired and tested.

Expertise

Common faults we fix on Control Techniques drives

  • IGBT and power module failure in the inverter bridge — common across all frame sizes after extended service

  • DC bus electrolytic capacitor degradation — particularly prevalent in drives after extended service

  • Gate driver board faults causing erratic switching and overcurrent trips

  • Keypad, display, and operator panel failure preventing parameter access and fault readout

FAQ

Control Techniques drive repair FAQs

Do you repair older, discontinued Control Techniques drives?

Yes. We regularly work on end-of-life models including the Commander SE and older Unidrive frames. We assess parts availability before confirming the repair scope.

Which Control Techniques drive ranges do you service?

We service the Commander and Unidrive families — including Commander SK, SE, S100, C200, C300, and Unidrive SP, M200, M400. We also repair the Mentor II DC drive.

Can you retain my drive parameters during repair?

Where possible, yes. We back up parameters before any work begins. If the control card is beyond recovery, we will advise on re-parameterisation.

What is your turnaround for a Control Techniques drive repair?

We aim to complete diagnostics within two working days of receiving the drive. Repair time depends on component lead times, but most jobs complete within five to ten working days.
